Project GloBAL Regional Pages Overview
The starting point for Project GloBAL’s work is at the regional level. These regional designations are modified from FAO and reflect geopolitical and ecological boundaries more relevant to bycatch assessment of our focal taxa (link to regional map). For example, there are sufficient similarities in the fisheries and bycatch issues in FAO regions north-east and north-west Pacific to warrant combination for the purpose of this assessment.
Some regions, such as the Caribbean, encompass many territories/ sovereign entities, while others (e.g. the South-west Atlantic region with Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil) have a much smaller number of countries. Project GloBAL’s collaboration and networking activities are conducted primarily at this regional level. For information on a particular region, please contact the regional coordinator listed below.
