Welcome
This project seeks to collate data, quantify impacts and suggest conservation measures for reversing the declines of seabirds, sea turtles and marine mammals due to incidental fisheries bycatch.
Major goals and anticipated products of this project include:

- Identify the population-level effects of fisheries on populations of seabirds, sea turtles, and marine mammals.
- Compile and quantify the magnitude and distribution of fishing effort by gear type.
- Quantify bycatch per unit fishing effort and use these calculations to generate estimates of bycatch-related mortality.
- Assess the impact of bycatch mortality on population parameters, such as growth and recruitment rates.
- Define the differences in bycatch rates among ocean regions, in the context of fisheries management.
- Identify regional differences in bycatch rates as related to different fishing operations.
- Monitor changes in bycatch rates as bycatch mitgation technology or modification of fishing practices are implemented in different regions.
