Bryan Wallace
Name: Bryan Wallace
Country: USA
Education: BS (2000) University of Dayton, OH; PhD (2005) Drexel University, Philadelphia
Specialty: vertebrate ecophysiology, Bioenergetics and trophic ecology of sea turtles
Best part about my job: I get to work in a field that is scientifically challenging and socially relevant.
Biggest challenges I face: Maintaining a healthy balance of work and the rest of my life
The most unusual or exciting thing that's happened to me while working in the field: Following a leatherback back into the surf after she finishes nesting; watching hippos, giraffes, elephants, and zebras in South Africa; seeing a 5m-wide manta ray jump out of the water; wrestling with snapping turtles.
Why I like being a member of Project GloBAL: Working across disciplines, international borders, and language barriers to figure out the best ways to understand and protect biodiversity, and how to live responsibly as a part of it. Basically, I love learning about and experiencing wildlife and wild places, and won’t allow my kids and grandkids to be denied the opportunities that I have had to know and love it all.
