Jeff Moore

I have diverse interests in ecology, with emphases in population and conservation ecology, trophic interactions, and applications of quantitative methods for analyzing complex ecological data.  Common themes of my recent research include understanding the direct or indirect roles of human disturbance on populations or ecological processes, and I have burgeoning interest in marine science and conservation.

On Project GloBAL, my current research activities include: (1) using age-structured data on small cetaceans stranded on beaches and killed in gillnets to estimate demographic impacts of bycatch; (2) using animal movement data to understand habitat selection of sea turtles in regions where they suffer high levels of fisheries-based mortality; (3) compiling a synthetic review of bycatch issues in U.S. and Canadian fisheries; and (4) leading efforts to compile available information about bycatch along the west African coast.

I received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Wildlife Biology from U.C. Davis (1996), Humboldt State University (2002), and Purdue University (2005), respectively.
